Spectral Arc Sources

The ES-20 Spectral Arc Power Supply provides power for a number of arc lamps. They are useful to show the student the diversity of metallic arcs. Measuring the wavelengths with a Spectroscope makes an interesting student experiment.

Spectral Arc Lamps provide convenient sources of monochromatic radiation at known wavelengths, for physical and chemical experiments. The Lamps are interchangeable, both optically and electrically, to minimize the time lost in changing sources. The discharge is small and bright and contained in an inner envelope surrounded by an outer bulb. The Lamps fit the ES-21 Spectral Lamp House and are powered by the ES-20 Spectral Arc Power Supply.

The operating current for all Lamps is 0.9 A. The power dissipated by the Lamp is listed in the accompanying Table.
