Air Track Systems

There are a number of popular recording methods use with Air Tracks to collect data for student analysis. One of the simplest is the use of Photogates and Basic Timers. The time the Photogate is interrupted is recorded, and using the length of the Glider, the velocity can be calculated. A second Photogate at another point on the Air Track gives a second velocity. The System contains three Gliders, Inelastic Collision bumper springs, Riser Blocks to tilt the Track for acceleration of the Glider, ceramic magnets for harmonic damping and non-contact collisions, and coil spring for simple harmonic motion studies.

All of the Air Track Systems perform the same experiments and teach the same mechanical principles. They differ in the recording technique used to record the time-position information of the Gliders.
