EK-20 Counter Timer

  • A Geiger Counter including power supply
  • A Photogate timer measuring milliseconds
  • A frequency meter

The six-decade Counter-Timer, shown here with the EK-05 Amplifier Power Supply, can act as a pulse counter, a timer, or a Geiger Counter.

In the "pulse" control mode, the Counter acts like a stop clock, switching the timer on or off whenever the control signal is present. This mode of operation is very useful in making precise measurements such as determining acceleration in free fall using a pair of EK-22 Photocells. In the "gate" mode, the EK-20 acts like an electronic timer by switching the Counter on when the control signal is removed.

Using the Amplifier Power Supply as a signal amplifier, the EK-20 can count pulses at rates to 100 kHz. Used in conjunction with the EK-27 Preset Counter Adapter, the Counter becomes a very accurate frequency meter.

The EK-20 Counter Timer has an internal 32 kHz quartz crystal for millisecond timing. Calibration of this signal is better than within ±0.05%

The EK-05 Amplifier Power Supply is required for operation and is supplied separately.
