EN-12 Precision Geiger Counter with Geiger Tube & Accessories

  • Counts per Minute by Fixed Count
  • Counts per Minute by Time Interval
  • Geiger Müller Tube Voltage
  • Computer Interface

This versatile instrument provides all the features ever needed in a Geiger Counter. Count rate in counts per minute or tube voltage are shown on the six-digit front panel display. Several modes of operation are easily selected via a front panel push-button. An RS-232 serial port for computer interfacing is built in.

In the Count to fixed number mode, the instrument will count up to a preset number of counts, then divide the counts by the time period, and display the couonts per minute. Measuring count rate in this manner gives results with a fixed statistical accuracy. With preset counts of 100, 1000, and 4000, the accuracy of the result will be 10%, 5%, and 1%, respectively. Measurement times are virtually unlimited, so it is possible to measure background or natural low level radioactive sources with high precision.

In the Count in a fixed time interval mode, the instrument will count pulses for a fixed interval (15 or 60 seconds) . This is the fastest method of obtaining count rate and is the usual method of measuring the count rate.

The voltage supplied to the Geiger Tube is fully adjustable. In the "VOLTS" mode the tube voltage is adjustable and displayed on the digital readout.

The Precision Geiger Counter outputs a computer-compatible signal which permits data logging with a computer. Included with the instrument are the cable and software for two methods of computer access. In the first method, the instrument is connected to a serial port and sends each measured count rate that is captured by the computer. In the second method, the Geiger Counter performs as the Daedalon EN-18/-19 Interface.
